We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning School. PB4L is all about teaching children the right behaviour, just like we teach any other subject at school.
“If a student does not know how to read, we teach
If a student does not know how to swim, we teach
If a student does not know how to multiply, we teach
If a student does not know how to behave, we teach.”
Each week we focus on positive behaviours we expect to see around the school. These behaviours are closely aligned to the Peninsula Primary Values which are Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.
Students are given the opportunity to discuss and share ideas around feelings and outcomes of certain behaviours, both positive and challenging.
The positive outcomes we see through being a PB4L school include;
-
Students are focused on learning with less distractions
-
Students regularly receive verbal praise and recognition for positive behaviour
-
Students recognise how to communicate and interact with each other respectfully
-
Students take responsibility for their behaviour when they make mistakes
-
Students receive ‘R stickers’ that acknowledges their behaviour, that go onto their sticker chart. They are awarded once they gain 25, 50, 75 and 100 stickers
-
Students receive certificates at team assemblies and school assemblies for positive behaviour and learning in class
-
Positive behaviour is celebrated in class and across the school
-
Teachers on duty at break times give out ‘R stickers’’ as well to acknowledge positive friendships and game playing.
.
‘Manaakitia te tangata, ahakoa ko wai, ahakoa no hea’.
‘Treat people respectfully, irrespectively of who they are and where they come from’.
