Wetlands Walk

 Middle Syndicate Wetlands Walk

This term we have been looking at responsibility and what this means. We looked at being responsible at home, in school and in our community. As a part of our topic, we went for a walk to our local wetlands to learn about plants and animals and also what we can do to help keep the wetlands clean and tidy.  Walking to the wetlands took us half an hour. When we got there, we sat down and had our morning tea.

We talked about what we would be seeing around the wetlands. There is a information station that tells you about the wetlands at Te Atatu Peninsula. It also has a map of the wetlands.

At the first pond there was a fence and a gate. This is to keep animals out. The sign also says no swimming .

We were surprised to see that there was so much rubbish in the water.

We also walked around to a second pond… This one was much cleaner which was nice to see!
