THE 'RIGHT START' AT PENINSULA PRIMARY.
In 1997 we introduced a new reception room programme with the aim of giving the children the right start to their school life. By developing a cooperative relationship with the parents we intend to give the children a good grounding in the basics of readiness to read and write. Parent sessions will be held to assist parents with their role in the programme. You are welcome to visit our reception rooms. Please don’t hesitate to ring the office and make an appointment. Your child may attend school 6 weeks prior to them turning five years old, for one morning a week. This is designed to give your child an opportunity to become familiar with their new learning environment and transition them easily into school. The designated day for this is Tuesday morning from 11.30a.m. to 12.30p.m. Once you have enrolled, you will receive a letter advising you of the dates for the visits. You are required to stay for the visit. When enrolling a child/children, Parents/Caregivers are required to show a birth certificate or passport to verify date of birth. You are also required to supply a copy of your child's immunization schedule which is available from your family Doctor. Children who are enrolling from countries other than New Zealand must have documents supporting their immigration status and N.Z. Residency application.
